What Type of Professional Should I Hire for Ceiling Water Damage?

Hey everyone, I recently encountered a leak from the second-floor bathroom sink that went unnoticed for a few minutes. We quickly shut off the water and cleaned up, only to discover that it was just a loose connector. However, now I've noticed a water stain on the ceiling of the living room below the bathroom. The living room ceiling has a light fixture that still works and didn't show any signs of water, but the ceiling feels slightly damp. There's also a new 2-inch wide water spot appearing a bit further away from the initial stain, and it feels soft enough that I could poke a finger through it. I'm not sure how to proceed with this, especially with a newborn at home. What kind of professional should I contact to assess and potentially fix this damage? Do I need someone who specializes in water damage restoration? Any advice would be really appreciated!

Definitely reach out to a licensed contractor or a plumber who has experience with water damage. They can assess the ceiling and make sure there’s no lingering moisture that could lead to bigger problems down the line. It might be worth getting a few quotes to compare services and prices!

It sounds like you've got a bit of a situation there! Since the ceiling is showing signs of water damage and there’s possible soft spots, I'd recommend calling a water damage restoration company. They have the expertise to assess the situation, identify any trapped moisture, and help decide the next steps, which will likely involve opening up the ceiling to check for further damage. Make sure to look up local companies to get estimates and find one with good reviews!
