I'm into small to medium wood carving projects for fun, making things like sculptures and utensils mainly out of hardwoods such as walnut. I'm considering buying the M12 straight die grinder for rough material removal and a rotary tool for finer details. Can anyone share their thoughts on whether these tools are suitable for this type of work? Just a heads up, corded tools aren't feasible for me where I live.

I've used the rotary tool a lot for power carving and finishing details on my wood projects. It works pretty well overall but can feel a bit heavy during long sessions. However, I found a cool way to hang it with a flex shaft that helps a ton! I haven't tried the die grinder yet, but now you've got me curious!

Thanks for the info! Just to clarify, do you prefer the rotary tool over the die grinder for your work?
