Hey everyone! Sorry for posting about a chipboard desk here, but I think you all might have some good advice. I recently got an office desk that fits perfectly in my space, but it didn't come with any fixings. It has the usual cam locks for assembly, but I'm stuck on what to use for the other fixings. The sides connect to metal legs that seem to need inserts (I think nuts?) and the top fits into an M6 threaded insert. I've been searching online—like Screwfix and Toolstation—but haven't had any luck finding what I need. The legs are about 30mm in for the cam lock and the metal is roughly 35mm thick, so I need about 45mm of M6 thread. The top also requires about 30mm of cam lock and about 10mm into the threaded insert. I'm based in the UK, so any sources from there or Europe would be super helpful! Thanks in advance for any advice you can share!

I found a similar product online that might help link it all together, but it looks like normal dowels. What you actually need is some M6 threaded inserts that will fit onto those cam locks. Have you checked out local hardware stores or even specialty suppliers online? Sometimes they can have exactly what you need!
It seems like you're dealing with specialized hardware. If you can find the manufacturer of the desk, they may be able to sell you the parts you need. Otherwise, you might consider filling the holes with dowel rods and wood glue. Just make sure to pre-drill the dowels to avoid splitting the wood, then use suitable screws to secure everything together. You could also think about using angle brackets for the back—just a suggestion since they won’t be too visible!
That sounds like a solid plan! The dowel and wood glue method will definitely keep things sturdy. And using screws to anchor it all is clever. Just make sure everything is aligned before drilling!

Thanks for the tip! That image you linked is closer, but I still need something that threads in like you said. Maybe I’ll try reaching out to those specialized suppliers.
