How to Make My New Garden Beautiful This Winter?

Hey everyone! I've just relocated to a new house and started settling in. I've got two small raised flower beds in an L shape in my garden, measuring around 1 meter at their widest and about 3 meters long. I'm curious if there's any way I can plant something now to beautify my garden for the winter or even grow some kitchen herbs. I doubt I can get outdoor herbs going in time to survive, but I'm open to any suggestions you might have. I don't currently own a greenhouse, but I'm considering getting one for next year. Also, is it too late to plant pumpkins for October? Thanks for your help!

Since it’s a bit late in the summer, growing pumpkins might be tricky unless you’re in a warmer area. However, you can definitely still plant some beautiful flowers that thrive in the cooler months! Consider adding dahlias, cosmos, and other annuals, which will look lovely into November. For winter, ornamental plants like kale, pansies, and hellebores would be great choices. Don't forget about planting spring bulbs in October too! If you’re leaning towards vegetables, carrots can be seeded now. Improving your soil with plenty of compost or manure is also a smart move for future planting!
