How Can I Raise New Cabinets to Match Existing Ones?

I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel and adding a few new base cabinets. When I bought them, I thought all my existing cabinets were the standard height of 34.5 inches, but it turns out they are actually 35 inches tall! I need to figure out how to raise my new cabinets by that extra half inch without messing anything up. Since I'm planning to paint them all, I was thinking about maybe adding some trim or a shim for that height adjustment. I'll be using butcher block countertops, so I'm not sure if that will affect anything either. Any advice on how to handle this?

I know Ikea cabinets have adjustable feet, so you might find that helpful. If it’s just a half inch, a quick fix could be adding a narrow shim piece at the bottom and then trimming it out for a clean look.

Honestly, it sounds like your existing cabinets might just be resting on some old flooring or something, which can make them appear taller. A simple way to fix it is to set the new cabinets on some 1/2" plywood strips to raise them. It’s similar to shimming them to make sure they're level, just a bit thicker. This could be the easiest solution!

I checked, and they are definitely 35". I even took them out to measure!
