Is Westland TopSoil Worth It for My Tortoise?

Asked By TurtleNomad42 On

I'm considering using Westland TopSoil for my tortoise and I'm curious about its quality. Does anyone have experience with this product? Specifically, do the bags contain any debris or trash? I previously used Levington but it wasn't suitable since it was sourced from a landfill. I'm looking for a reliable alternative.

Have you thought about finding a local supplier? Most bags from garden centers can be either overpriced or not the best quality. I recently ordered from The Compost Shop, and they have a range of organic, peat-free, chemical-free soils that might suit your needs.

I tried topsoil from Wickes and was really pleased with it—zero debris and it worked great! You can get three 25-liter bags for just £10. From what I've heard, some people have had bad experiences with Westland, so maybe explore other options too.

If you're not set on Westland, I recommend checking out SylvaGrow Farmyard. It's well-reviewed and seems like a solid choice for your tortoise.
