What’s the Average Cost to Drywall and Finish a Small Bathroom?

Hey everyone! I received a quote from my handyman to drywall and finish my 6' by 8' bathroom with 8' ceilings, and honestly, it feels quite steep to me. The quote includes them purchasing all the materials, but it doesn't cover the shower area, which is 42" x 60". I'm located in the Midwest, so I'm curious about what others think about this price. Thanks for any insights you can share!

Is your space down to the studs? Also, is it on the first floor? There might be variables depending on what’s already in the bathroom. Personally, the lowest I’d charge in the Midwest would be around $2,200 plus materials, and my work is dust-free.

Yes, I’m taking everything down to the studs except the ceiling. It is indeed on the first floor.

What was your quote? It’s hard to gauge without knowing the number. For reference, I had a small kitchen area (6'x6') and a powder room ceiling (3'x8') redone after some water damage, and that was around $3200, not including paint.

I got quoted $3850 just for the bathroom, and that includes materials.

I’m assuming your bathroom has two main walls to cover: one that's 6' wide by 8' tall and another 8' wide by 8' tall. So that’s around 384 sqft of drywall work. For what it's worth, I had about 100 sqft replaced recently, and I'd say your quote is reasonable, depending on your area—urban might be pricier than rural. I live about 20 miles outside Denver.
