I'm currently renovating my home after experiencing a couple of natural disasters, and I've come across some Jatoba prefinished tongue and groove wood for a mouth-watering price of $1.69 to $2 per square foot at a local discount hardware store. I absolutely love this wood! It's incredibly resilient—much more so than even locust from my experiments with composting. My main question is: should I stock up on it while I can, or would that be a crazy move?

Definitely go for it! I'd buy all of it if I were you. Jatoba makes for a fantastic floor, even if it’s seen as a bit out of style these days. I actually prefer it over white oak for flooring.
If you're planning on using it for flooring, then yes, absolutely! But just a heads up: if you don't need it for that, you might find it a real hassle to strip the finish and mill the wood for other projects. I learned the hard way after trying to repurpose some flooring I had—never again!
Haha, I totally hear you on that. Refinishing and milling sounds like a nightmare. I’d stick to things like window sills or whatever else we can use it for instead!
Great find! Just let me know where that store is; I might need some for myself. ?

I've noticed that lots of oak, maple, and pine I have stored are getting some kind of bug damage, but the Jatoba? It's practically untouched. Seems like a no-brainer!
