I'm looking to set up a 12x15 solar shade on my 15x15 deck (the deck is pretty old, so I'm not worried about drilling into it since I'll probably replace it within the next five years). My initial idea is to mount poles at the corners and attach the sunshade using carabiners, but I'm unsure about how to properly secure those poles to the deck. I'm aiming for a DIY solution that's budget-friendly. Are there any pole brackets that I can use to screw into wooden boards? I'm completely new to this, so any guidance would be really appreciated!

One key tip is to really tighten the shade more than you think is necessary. I made the mistake of letting mine sag, and it ended up looking terrible after a few weeks! My setup involves two metal poles with the other connections anchored to the roof. If the shade is too large for the area, it’s hard to tighten properly, so just keep that in mind!
We had a similar idea but ended up taking another route. Initially, we planned to cut the corner deck boards to reveal the joists and bolt 4x4 treated posts at each corner. Then we’d attach eye bolts on top of those posts for mounting the shade. If you're in a similar situation, the whole setup would probably cost you less than $100!
Thank you! Appreciate the tip, this could definitely work.

Sage advice, thank you!
