I've noticed that many folks are customizing their DCF850 by swapping in a 3/8" anvil to turn it into an impact wrench. I was wondering if anyone has tried a similar modification on the DCF809 model. Is it doable?

Absolutely, you can modify the DCF809 with the 3/8” anvil as long as it’s compatible with the standard 1/4" hex collet. Just keep in mind that the DCF809 isn’t the most powerful tool in the DeWalt lineup, so its effectiveness for heavy-duty tasks might be limited.

Thanks for clarifying! I've been using the 809 with a socket adapter for car work. Even though it's not super powerful, it's handled suspension jobs like changing springs, struts, and more. For $25, do you think the extra power from the mod is worth it?
