Dealing with a Bindweed Infestation After New Turf Installation

I've been living in my house for five years without any bindweed issues. Recently, however, the landlady had the old grass removed, and new turf laid just five weeks ago. Now, I'm discovering bindweed popping up all over—through the new turf, in flowerbeds, a crack in the concrete under the shed, and even in the shared gravel driveway! I've already pulled out a good handful of shoots, and I'm worried about it spreading, especially since I'm moving out soon and the garden will be unmanaged while the house is on the market. I'm considering warning my neighbors to prevent the bindweed from sneaking into their gardens. I'm not looking to hold the garden crew responsible for the problem but am curious if they should be informed that they might be spreading bindweed to other properties. What would you all suggest?

I think the rotavating is likely what caused the bindweed to sprout. It aerated the roots, giving it a chance to grow. Good call on warning your neighbors, though! They definitely need to be aware of this potential problem!

It's quite possible the bindweed was just lying dormant in the soil. When they rotavated, it could have disturbed it and brought those roots to the surface. It’s definitely worth letting your neighbors know in case it spreads!

You could definitely mention it to the crew, but I’d focus on letting your neighbors know since it can spread quickly. Better to keep everyone informed rather than have it go unchecked!
