Can Pruning Help My Calathea Grow Bigger Leaves?

I've had my Calathea for over a year, and it seems to be thriving, but I can't help but notice that some Calatheas out there have huge, broad leaves. Is there any way to encourage my plant to develop larger leaves? Can pruning make a difference?

Pruning might not really boost leaf size directly, but it could encourage more growth overall. Just be careful not to overdo it! I tend to prune the older, dying leaves, but if you have a vining type of plant, pruning could make it look a bit off. My plants usually do well without much pruning at all.

It took a little while—definitely months! I noticed my plants started getting bigger leaves after they settled in and got the right conditions.

I believe leaf size is more about the plant's maturity and the amount of light it gets rather than pruning. So, making sure your Calathea is well-lit could help more than cutting any leaves.
