I just got a myrtillio cactus in addition to another mystery plant, and I'm heading out on vacation next week. I want to keep them both alive after having lost a couple of succulents before. Should I leave them in my living room where my husband keeps it dark all the time, or would it be better to move them to my room where they can get lots of morning light?

Cacti typically need a lot of light to thrive, so putting them in your room with plenty of morning sunlight is definitely the way to go. Just make sure to tell your husband not to water them while you're away! Watering too much can cause serious issues, especially since you've had some trouble with your other plants in the past.
I've learned the hard way about overwatering. Make sure you're careful; letting them dry out before you leave, and giving them a good light boost can really help! My cactus has survived weeks without water and just needed bright light when I got back.
I get my plants ready for my trips by letting them dry out a bit before I leave. It's also a good idea to maximize their light exposure right before you head out. I keep mine under grow lights, but as long as they get some good light, they should be fine for a week or two.
