How Can I Permanently Get Rid of Weeds on My Hill?

I've got a big hill in my backyard that just won't stop sprouting weeds. I've tried every weed killer on the market, but they keep coming back. I even resorted to a mix of vinegar, salt, and soap, which does kill them quickly, but it doesn't prevent them from returning. I really want to figure out a way to get rid of them for good. Any suggestions?

One solid option is to till the soil and plant some seeds that you want to establish. With enough care, you could hand-pull the weeds until the new plants take over. If you're worried about ongoing weed issues, maybe consider using a mulch layer properly or even landscape fabric to help suppress them, but just remember that it can degrade over time.

It sounds like trying to eliminate all life isn't the best approach. No plants mean no roots to hold the soil, which leads to erosion. Instead, think about what you actually want to grow there. After you remove the weeds, you should plant something desirable that can take over and prevent the weeds from coming back. Plus, you've got to be wary of harsh methods—salt and vinegar might just create a barren space for new weeds to pop up later.

Have you considered letting nature take its course a bit? Weeds are just a part of land development. If you let them grow, they eventually die out and enrich the soil, allowing other plants to establish. It's a natural cycle! Plus, you could try planting something that will outcompete the weeds instead of going with harsh chemicals. This way, you foster a healthier environment on your hill.
