Is it Dangerous to Have Disconnected Gas Dryer Pipes for a Long Time?

For the past three years, I've noticed a strange butane or gas smell whenever the dryer and AC were running at the same time, but no one else could smell it. Curious about this, I checked the dryer setup and found out that the pipes were disconnected above the downstairs ceiling tiles, which had lint everywhere. I have no idea how long this has been the case! Now that I've reconnected the pipes, I'm really worried about the potential dangers of breathing in whatever fumes might've been coming from that area. How worried should I be about the health risks and the time I might've lost due to this situation?

While it's tough to pinpoint toxicity levels from that situation, the bigger risk is fire. Make sure to clean up any remaining lint, and it's great you reconnected the vent. Safety first!

Honestly, maybe it just affected your ability to think clearly for a bit, but the main concern should be mold or buildup from the moisture in that space. Definitely check for that!

Inspecting for mold is crucial since moisture could've accumulated with the pipes disconnected. Best to be thorough and ensure your space is healthy now that you've addressed the vent issue.
