I planted my grass seed about a month ago and took all the necessary steps: tilling, raking, and everything else. However, the grass is only about 2 inches tall and appears pretty sparse. I noticed some birds eating it, but I tried to scare them away. I'm also worried because while watering, I accidentally let it pool. I'm looking for any advice on what might be wrong and how I can help my grass grow better!

Your grass is probably just in its early growth cycle. Many grasses grow a few inches and then pause for a bit. Just give it some time and keep caring for it; it should bounce back!
First off, what type of grass seed did you use? That can make a big difference! If it was all-purpose, it's usually decent, but knowing the exact mix could help troubleshoot further.
I didn't really check the bag closely—my dad picked it up. I think it was all-purpose.
It might be an issue with timing. You mentioned you seeded it in late June, which can be tough depending on where you're located—it's either really hot or too cold for some types of grass. Try reseeding at the right time if you can.
Thanks for the heads-up on timing!

I'm just worried since August is coming up!
