Is it Safe to Leave Hoses Buried During the Winter?

I've been thinking about whether it's a good idea to bury my heavy-duty hoses for the winter or just leave them out. My plan is to disconnect the hoses from the spigots and remove any nozzles or spray heads in late fall to prevent damage from water expanding in the hose. Is there any reason this might not be a good idea? Will the hoses deteriorate or break down if they're left buried?

We've been doing this for a few years now and it works great! No issues so far, so I’d say it’s definitely an option worth considering.

Eventually, the materials can rot if they're buried for too long. It's best to drain the hose as much as possible by rolling it up and keeping the ends open, just to allow any residual water to expand without causing damage.

How deep were you thinking of burying them? I’d suggest going at least a few inches down, maybe 2" or so, and leave some slack near the spigot to make connecting and disconnecting easier.
