Best Ways to Soundproof a Wall on a Budget?

Asked By LetsGetLoud123 On

I'm struggling with noise issues since my bedroom is right next to my friend's gaming setup, and it's been a problem for years! I'm looking for affordable ways to soundproof the wall. Are those acoustic panels from Home Depot worth it, or should I consider adding drywall? If one option is better, could you explain why? I'm interested in DIY solutions, too!

You might want to try those felt acoustic wall panels, but just make sure they have a solid return policy in case they don’t work for you. It's worth testing before fully committing!

Honestly, the key to soundproofing is mass. You might find it easier to buy your friend some noise-cancelling headphones instead! They’ll help keep the sound from spilling over, especially if he games with others online.

Yeah, headphones could definitely help! It’s surprising how much they can reduce the noise for everyone.

If you’re willing to DIY, look into making a frame with rockwool insulation—it’s super cheap and easy, just a bit labor-intensive. You could also hang heavy moving blankets for a straightforward solution. But honestly, don’t waste your time with those acoustic panels from Home Depot; they’re not very effective!

Rockwool sounds like a fantastic idea! I never thought of using moving blankets, thanks for the tip!
