I'm considering installing a QuietCool whole house fan in my one-story, 1,995 sq ft house in Southern California, as it doesn't have great airflow. The west side tends to be warmer than the east, even on cooler summer days. Has anyone installed one? Do you like it? Is it easy to DIY, or should I hire a contractor for the installation?

I’ve got a few QC fans myself. I installed three in my current home and had one in my last house. Installation isn’t too bad, but make sure to scout out your attic for the best placement before cutting any drywall or joists. I’d suggest going for an ES model since they’re quieter and more energy-efficient. Plus, consider getting a bigger fan and running it on low—it’ll save you money in the long run! I use mine almost every night during the summer months, and it works like a charm here in SoCal. Definitely one of my best home investments!
We installed a QuietCool unit in Colorado, and we absolutely love it! We rarely use the AC now. Our routine involves running it early in the morning when it’s cool, then closing the house up before heading out. Installation wasn’t done by us as it came with the house, but I feel confident I could tackle it. Just assess what you're comfortable with!
Thanks!
Installed one in my current place, and it's honestly my favorite upgrade! The installation was a bit of a hassle since I’m not a fan of working in the attic—cutting the hole and securing the fan was tedious. But now, with a smart switch setup, I can tell Alexa to run the fan which is great for cooling the house before bed. If you're in a hotter region, make sure to consider how it’ll work for those warm nights!

Thanks for the recommendation!
