Is It Safe to Use Mineral Spirits on My Cheese Slicing Board?

Hey everyone! I'm in the process of prepping a cheese slicing board and I'm wondering if it's safe to use mineral spirits to clean off any sawdust before I apply some food-safe mineral oil. Just to update, I've already applied the mineral spirits. What do you think?

If you're looking for another option, consider getting a tack cloth to get rid of any leftover dust after evaporation. It should help you out nicely!

Hey, don’t worry too much! Just let the mineral spirits evaporate completely and your board will be fine to use afterward. It’s pretty forgiving!

Thanks for the reassurance!

Honestly, you really shouldn’t need to use mineral spirits at all. A simple wipe down should suffice, and if there’s still some roughness, you could use a burnishing pad or even 0000 steel wool. But since you already used it, just let it evaporate completely before applying your oil and you should be good to go!

Got it! But since I've already done it, should I just scrap the board?
