Bathroom Lights Flickering Randomly – What Should I Check?

Hey folks, I've got a bit of a quirky issue with the lights in my upstairs bathroom. They flicker every now and then, but it's not on a regular schedule. Usually, it happens when I first turn them on, flickering a bit for the first 5 minutes and potentially once more during my bathroom time, which can be about 30-45 minutes, especially when my wife is showering. I've noticed a pattern where it flickers just once when the AC kicks on, but can't really tie it to anything else. I've tried swapping out the bulbs and identified the breaker that controls the bathroom, which also powers some other lights, yet it's only the bathroom lights that exhibit this flickering behavior. The flicker isn't like a full on-and-off situation; it's more of a quick dimming and then right back to normal. I've even checked the switch panel, and everything there looks fine. Any advice on how to resolve this or how I can better diagnose the issue? Thanks a bunch!

Hey there! While I'm no professional, it sounds like the flickering could be linked to a loose connection either in the fixture itself or in the wiring that leads to it. Also, checking the switch for any wiring issues could be worth your time. I doubt the AC is the culprit since it draws a lot of power when it first starts up. Keep in mind that it might be best to have an electrician take a look if the problem persists!

I checked the switches, and everything seemed connected fine, so I'm thinking about just replacing the switches outright. But, I wanted to get some more tips before going that route or calling in a pro.

I feel your pain! I have a similar flickering issue with different lights all over my house. It's super frustrating! My theory is that it might be a bad connection somewhere in the panel or possibly a short. If it’s happening on several lights off a single breaker, definitely consider having an electrician check it out for you—safety first! If they're on different breakers, well, then there's a chance you might just have some spirits keeping the lights interesting!

LOL! If only it were just hauntings! But seriously, it still might be worth checking that panel for any signs of faulty wiring. Better safe than spooky!
