I'm looking into some washers and dryers, and I noticed that they have a depth of 32 inches, but the pedestals seem to only be 29 inches deep. I'm really confused about this! Is there a specific type of pedestal we need to consider, or do the washer and dryer typically extend off the back? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

If you're really worried about the depth difference, you could consider using cinder blocks to elevate the washer and dryer for about $8 for a pack of four. It's a cheap solution!
It's worth checking that the height of the machines isn't measured at their feet. Sometimes the depth includes things like rounded doors on front loaders, which can stick out a bit farther than the actual base. Just make sure to compare the measurements and you should be fine!
Good point! I noticed that the user manuals have specific details on how far the feet can be adjusted, which really cleared things up for me.

And don't forget about the knobs on top; they can add some depth too!
