Hey everyone! My wife and I just installed new countertops and paid for a 25-year sealer, but the installers initially applied a 1-year sealer. They quickly removed the 1-year one with a solvent and then put on the 25-year sealer. I felt a bit uneasy about how fast it all went down. This past weekend, I used a cutting board with rubber feet, and now there are two circle stains on the countertop. Is there any way to remove these stains? Do you think I got scammed with the whole sealer situation? The installers claimed the sealer would prevent stains from penetrating the granite.

Once a sealer is on, it typically penetrates and you can't really remove it. It sounds like you got the 1-year sealer initially, and applying the 25-year on top doesn't reverse that. You might be stuck with those stains since it's likely the original sealer was never truly effective.
That sounds a lot like the shady tactics you see in car dealerships. Did they give you any documentation about which sealer was used? Sealer is crucial for granite care, but honestly, no sealer can last 25 years with regular wear and tear.
Nope, they didn’t provide any paperwork—just some sales pitch about how it soaks in deeper than others. I just wanted to get the house done!
Depending on what they used, they might have wiped it with something like acetone to dissolve the sealer quickly. It's possible they didn't apply the correct sealing process properly, and it's unlikely they did a thick enough coat of the new sealer. If you have baby oil or mineral oil handy, drop some on the surface and see if it soaks in or beads up. That'll help you figure out if it's properly sealed or not.

So should I be asking for a refund then?
