I've noticed a trend where a lot of folks are posting about wanting to plant tall trees, especially leylandii, around their gardens for privacy. It makes me wonder, why are so many people keen on having 30-foot trees surrounding their yards? Do they really think their neighbors are constantly watching them? I mean, would a passing plane even notice a messy lawn? I apologize if I sound hyperbolic, but I'm genuinely curious about this. Sure, not everyone wants just a low fence, but isn't living close to others part of the charm of urban life? By the way, I've been lucky with my neighbors! Looking forward to seeing more posts about leylandii in the future.

It may sound strange, but wanting privacy in your garden isn’t weird at all—it’s a basic human instinct. I’ve seen countless posts in this community discussing ways to enhance that sense of seclusion, so clearly, it resonates with many people!
Honestly, you’d be surprised by how intrusive some neighbors can be. I've had experiences where a neighbor would tease my dogs from the fence, or there were children making noise nearby. Privacy barriers can really help block out those disturbances.
I think it’s for the same reason we don’t make houses out of glass! People just like their privacy, plain and simple.
That's true, but some people seem to want trees that are, like, 20 feet tall! Seems pretty excessive, doesn't it?
Having some privacy is a major plus! My partner and I value our quiet time in the garden without worrying about neighbors dropping by for a chat. They’re nice people, but we love our peaceful space to unwind.
For me, my garden is my personal space. I prefer not to see others and don't want people staring at me either! We’ve got plenty of big trees growing to keep prying eyes away. Plus, we had issues in the past with neighbors helping themselves to our orchard fruits, so privacy's crucial!

I did a quick search and found several posts about privacy over the past two weeks. It definitely seems like a hot topic here!
