How to Fix a Cracked Center Beam in an Old House?

I recently bought a house that's over 100 years old, and I've discovered some structural damage, specifically a cracked center beam and a chimney that's also cracked. The foundation seems fine overall, but I'm looking for advice on whether I can repair or replace the beam myself or how much I should expect to pay a contractor for this. Any guidance would be appreciated!

Hey! Honestly, this isn't a DIY job. The costs can vary significantly, but I'd say be prepared for it to be more around the $100k range rather than just $10k! You’ll definitely need a specialized contractor for the chimney too. And whatever you do, avoid using the chimney until it's inspected for safety.
