I recently purchased a Kwikset entry doorknob and lock for the metal door between my garage and laundry room. The problem is that the 'rose' part of the knob won't sit flat against the door because of two protruding 'prongs' that are too wide to fit into a standard 2-1/8" hole. One of them is visible in the picture I shared. Did I get the wrong set, or are these prongs supposed to be ground off? Any help would be appreciated! [View Image](https://imgur.com/a/EXzRyZY)

It sounds like those prongs are meant for additional stability, but if they're preventing the knob from fitting correctly, you might need to modify them a bit. Just be careful if you decide to grind them down; it’s usually best to check with the manufacturer first to avoid voiding any warranties. Have you tried reaching out to customer support for some guidance?
That’s frustrating! I had a similar issue with a doorknob once. The instructions can be pretty vague, especially since you're only seeing re-keying info. It’s worth looking for installation manuals online specific to your model. Sometimes they get overlooked or aren’t included in the package. Good luck!
