I'm 6'4" and my bedroom has 8' ceilings. It's the warmest room in the house, and while I do have a window AC unit just for that space, I'd prefer to not always rely on it. Am I risking a headache (literally) by thinking about adding a ceiling fan to my bedroom?

I had a friend who didn't think much of ceiling fans either and got a low-profile fan. They learned the hard way that some of them can struggle with airflow if they’re too close to the ceiling. It's worth making sure it has enough clearance to work properly.
If you're worried about hitting your head, just go for a low-profile or "hugger" ceiling fan. They sit closer to the ceiling and are designed for spaces like yours. You should be fine! Plus, they can help circulate air without taking away too much headroom.
Honestly, I don't think you'll have any issues. Ceiling fans typically don't hang down too far, and at 6'4", you're not going to bump your head unless you're jumping for some reason! Just be sure to check the specifications of the fan you choose.
