Need Help Finding a Window Replacement for Unusual Size

Hi everyone! I'm working on renovating a basement room and I've got a bit of a challenge with the window. It's in pretty bad shape and I want to replace it, but I don't have the exact measurements just yet. From what I can tell, it seems to measure 72 inches long and 24 inches wide. The tricky part is that it's 72 inches long (the height) and not wide, and most options I see start at a width of 35 inches. I was wondering if it's common for older concrete foundations to have unconventional window sizes? I'm really at a loss here, especially since it's just a single pane window. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Check out this size chart! Any of the 2060’s should fit your needs nicely. Just make sure to confirm how you’ll install it – doesn't matter if it's sideways? I thought that was frowned upon since the first number usually represents height!

Good point! I was worried about installing it sideways too, since all the guides say that it can lead to issues. I guess I’ll have to verify how it’ll actually work in this setup!

Most windows are custom made, especially for unique sizes like yours. I suggest heading to a local building supply store or a lumberyard instead of a big box store. They can help you find the right fit or even create a custom window for you. It might be a bit more work, but you'll get exactly what you need!

Just to clarify, that window is likely 72 inches wide and 24 inches tall. Since it's not a common size, it might be pricier than expected. A good alternative could be installing two awning windows instead, which could give a nice look and function well for your basement!

Have you considered searching for a window with dimensions like 6' x 2'? Sometimes searching by feet can yield better results. I did a quick search, and found options that might work - you might just need to look for something taller by a few inches!
