I recently had baseboards installed in a few rooms of my house and I'm really unhappy with the results. There are massive gaps all over the place, even between the walls and baseboards. I've attached some pictures that show the worst of it. When I brought my concerns to the contractor, he brushed me off, saying it just needs caulking and that it's the painter's job to handle that. I'm seriously questioning whether this is normal or if I've just been shortchanged. Should I confront the contractor about this, or is it something I should just accept?

Honestly, this work is terrible. The gaps are way too big to just cover up with caulk! Caulking is usually for minor irregularities, not for gaps that look like a kid did the installation. You definitely deserve better than this.
What the heck? I’ve never installed baseboards, but even I could do a better job than this! It's really not that hard if you pay attention. They should be smoothly cut at the corners, and you're right to feel frustrated about how they look.

I appreciate that! I was starting to think maybe I was being too picky.
