I recently had an A/C technician come out for a routine annual inspection, and he said everything was in great condition. However, since he left, I've noticed that the house is getting warmer. Upon checking, I found that the circuit breaker had tripped. I reset it twice, but it immediately trips again. The A/C unit is 9 years old and is mainly used for about a month each year in a large house on Lake George, NY. Does anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this issue?

I had a similar issue with my A/C unit where it kept tripping the breaker. For me, it turned out to be poor insulation on a wire that was intermittently touching the grounded housing as the unit vibrated. It might be a good idea to have a professional check the wiring.
When my A/C was tripping the breaker immediately, it turned out to be a bad capacitor. If the tech only noted that everything tested within limits, it could mean it was close to failing but not quite there yet during the inspection.
It sounds like you might have a loose connection somewhere, which can definitely cause the breaker to trip. You should check the breaker itself and any disconnects to make sure everything's tight and properly connected.
You might want to call the tech back and let him know what's going on. It's possible he accidentally unplugged something critical during his inspection and forgot to reconnect it. Mistakes happen, so it’s worth a follow-up!
