Hey everyone! I'm currently living in a four-story apartment that has absolutely no windows—like, not even one! Instead, I've got a bunch of glass exterior doors (hinged ones, not sliding) and I'm trying to figure out how to vent an A/C unit into my living room/kitchen area. My heat pump isn't cutting it since it gets super hot down there, around 82 degrees at night. I want to avoid using those fabric zip-up kits because they don't seem efficient. Does anyone have creative ideas on venting an A/C unit through a regular hinged door without losing efficiency?

You might want to look into using a ZipWall system to manage air from the A/C. You could also try foam insulating boards to completely seal off around the unit. They come in large sheets, so you can cut them to size and tape them in place to create a good seal.
Have you thought about sealing off a door with plywood and insulation foam? You could create a new 'wall' to mount your air conditioner. Just cut a hole for the A/C in the plywood, seal it really well with weather stripping, and secure it with bungee cords to the door frame. You’ll want to ensure it seals tightly, like docking a submarine! You might need a window A/C unit to fit into this setup, but it's a solid way to go!
This is an interesting and doable approach. We already have two window units. Thanks!!
If you're just looking to improve airflow and cooling, consider using fans to cycle the air in your space better. For example, in my apartment, we use a combination of ceiling and floor fans that blow in opposite directions to keep the air moving without clashing. It might help get that cool air circulating more effectively!

Oooo the foam board could work! Thanks!
