I was trying to bring back an old DeWalt battery that wouldn't charge by using a jump-start method with a new battery. Mistakenly, I crossed the wires and shorted it out. Now, my good battery won't charge either. Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this situation?

Sounds like you probably burnt out some fusible links in the battery. When you tried to jump start it instead of using a multimeter or the proper charger, that’s a recipe for disaster. If you don't have spot welding gear or nickel strip, you might be out of luck.
You should definitely take that battery to a recycling center before it causes a fire hazard. Honestly, I can’t believe some folks still try the jump-start technique; it's like playing with fire for a pricey battery.

I doubt it’ll actually burn your house down, but yeah, trying to revive a battery this way isn’t the smartest move. It often costs less to just buy a new battery than to buy all the gear needed to do it right.
