What’s the best drinking water purifier that isn’t an RO unit?

Hey everyone! I just moved into my first home and I'm looking for recommendations on good drinking water purifiers. I'm not interested in anything RO (reverse osmosis) though. What are some solid options?

If you're leaning towards an under-sink filter, I’d suggest looking into brands like APEC or iSpring. They’re pretty reliable and my under-sink model has been great for the past year! I just change the filter every six months. What’s your setup like? If you have a separate tap for drinking water, it makes life easier!

I’m curious about brands too! Can you share which specific model you're using?

Before making any decision, it might be a good idea to test your water. Are you on city or well water? For example, my parents have well water issues that led them to dig a new well! If you're in an area with hard water like Indiana, getting a water softener paired with a filter could be beneficial. Plus, in some older homes, lead pipes can be a concern, so you’ll want to make sure that’s not an issue.

I’m on city water in Washington, built in the 1940s! I checked the quality report but can’t make sense of it. Any tips?
