Why Is My Window AC Unit Leaking Again?

Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a bind with my window AC unit and could really use some insights from those experienced with these things. It's super hot outside—around 95 degrees daily—so dealing with this issue is getting frustrating.

I've already checked and made sure my AC is tilted down correctly; I even used a level. However, it started leaking into my windowsill again, causing damage to the wall and carpet before. I had to turn the AC off and clean up the mess. At one point, I drilled a hole to help excess water drip out, which worked fine for a while, but now it's leaking worse than ever.

I removed the AC again, cleaned it, let it dry, and reinstalled it. After ensuring it was properly tilted, it still started to leak after just a couple of hours. In the video I took (which I can't attach), it looks like condensation is forming at the bottom and some water is dripping from what seems like vents on the sides. I do clean the filter regularly, so I don't think that's the issue.

I'm starting to wonder if I'm missing something obvious here. What else can I do to fix this leaking problem?

Hey! It sounds like the hole you drilled might have gotten clogged, which can definitely cause issues. I’d recommend checking that out first. You’ll want to clean out any sludge or debris stuck in there to ensure proper drainage. Sometimes dirt can accumulate and block the water from exiting properly!

It does look clogged now that I've gone and checked! It seems like sludge has built up at the bottom on the side of the hole. Any suggestions on how to clean that out?

No problem! It's an easy thing to overlook. Sometimes, just cleaning out that drainage hole can solve the problem. Glad to hear it’s been running without leaking for a bit—fingers crossed it stays that way! Just keep an eye on any potential water damage too. Good luck!

Glad you got it sorted out! It’s crazy how small things can make such a big difference.
