I'm on a quest for a 5/8" Forstner bit that can drill at least 4 to 5 inches deep. I've searched high and low on Google with no luck. Using an extension isn't an option for me since the collet is wider than the 5/8" hole. I do have a long enough bradpoint bit, but it's not going to give me the clean entry and exit holes that I need. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to try using your Forstner bit to start and finish the hole, but then use the longer brad point bit to clear out the middle section. Just a thought! That could save you some trouble with getting a clean hole.
Have you considered drilling halfway with the Forstner bit and then using a smaller drill bit for a pilot hole? Once you get through to the other side, you can flip it over and drill from that side too, lining up with your pilot hole. It's tricky to get perfect, but it can work wonders if you have a drill press!
That could work in other cases, but I'm drilling through 2" of material and need to stop before going through a 2.5" hole, then cut into the other side. I really appreciate your insight!
You could look into extensions, I guess?
Thanks for the suggestion, but the extension's collet is bigger than the hole made by my bit, so it wouldn't work for me.
Dude, I think you meant 'longer' not 'londer'! ? Just wanted to point that out.

Good thought! I haven't given that a shot yet, but I think I might. My concern is still that the bradpoint won't give me the clean finish I'm aiming for.
