Will Sugar Soap Help Remove the Last Bits of Paint?

Hey everyone! I need to completely strip the paint off my ceiling because the previous owners painted over some mould. I've already spent a ton of time using paint stripper, and now I'm down to what seems like the final layers. The last layer feels a bit damp after stripping, so I'm wondering if I can just wash it off with sugar soap. Do you think that would work? Thanks for any advice!

Make sure to follow the instructions on your paint stripper! Usually, it says to wash the surface with warm soapy water after stripping. If you're left with a soggy paint layer, sugar soap might help, but proceed with caution to prevent damage!

Right! Just be gentle when using sugar soap, especially if the surface feels soft after all that stripping.

Totally agree! You could try a small test area first to see how well it works before going all in.

First, can you tell if it's drywall or something else? That might affect how you approach this. If it is plaster, you might need to be careful with washing it too harshly.

Yeah, I initially thought it was drywall as well, but it turns out it's plaster! Be sure to treat it gently.

Also, you might want to check if it's drywall mud since that can also change what you should do.
