Hey everyone! I'm about to take over a 743 sqft condo that comes with an attached garage, but it needs a lot of TLC. The previous owner unfortunately ran out of funds and left it in pretty rough shape. It's got a strong, unpleasant odor, the garage door is malfunctioning, the A/C unit needs replacement, and I'll be needing new flooring, pest control to eliminate infestations, fresh paint, and new kitchen appliances. I have a budget of about $15,000 to $20,000. I'm unsure where to start, especially with getting estimates for flooring. Any advice on how to tackle this nightmare? Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask!

Starting with the cleaning and pest control is a must! Don't dive right into renovations before making sure everything's safe and clean. A good strategy would be to fix up the essentials first—make sure your heat, fridge, and water are good to go. I suggest going for vinyl plank flooring; it’s affordable and easy to install yourself, which can save you a lot of money!
Honestly, that budget might be a bit on the low end for everything you want to do, especially considering the state of the condo. I'd suggest prioritizing cleaning and exterminating first, as a clean space is essential. Check out some DIY videos if you’ve never done this before! Once that’s done, make sure your essentials like heating and cooling are working before you move in. Repairs should come before painting, and definitely do the flooring before putting in any new appliances.
