Hey everyone, we recently got our shower retiled, and I've noticed there's quite a bit of play with the shower downspout. After looking back at some pictures, it seems the contractor didn't install a drop ear elbow for proper support. I initially raised this issue with the foreman, who then suggested three options:
1. Use epoxy to fill the gap to stabilize the downspout (the easiest fix).
2. Rip out the tiling around the shower spout and install a 2x4 behind it for the drop ear elbow (which is a hassle since we've had to redo tiling before).
3. Go from behind by removing kitchen cabinetry or cutting through a less visible area (definitely not excited about this one!).
If we decide to go with the epoxy route, are there any concerns I should have?

Honestly, you want to avoid water damage at all costs. While the epoxy might be the easiest option, it doesn't fix the root problem. Ripping out the tiling sounds annoying, but it could save you headaches later on if something goes wrong. Better to do it right rather than having to deal with leaks down the line.

I hear you! Water damage was actually what led to the need for retiling in the first place. Do you think epoxy might lead to complications?
