What Plants Can I Use for a Large Bell-Shaped Terrarium?

Hey everyone! I've got this beautiful glass bell-shaped container that's almost two feet tall and spans between four to fifteen inches wide, and I'm looking for creative planting suggestions. The bottom layer features clay shards, pebbles, perlite, cactus mix, and some silicate, all arranged in layers. I could just toss in a couple of cacti, but I'm really curious about what else could thrive in this setup. I live in an NYC apartment, which tends to be pretty dry, so any ideas would be super helpful! Thanks a lot!

For your terrarium, I’d recommend using a center vertical focal piece. Some cool options are driftwood, moss, or even dragon stone, which would look fantastic! I also like to incorporate vintage brass animal figurines as fun accents. For plants, consider adding ferns or climbing plants like oak leaf ficus. They can really create a nice layered look!

The dragon stone sounds like a great idea! I hadn’t heard of it before, but I love the idea of stacking layers horizontally.

Fittonias could be an excellent addition for your terrarium! They have a striking look and don’t grow too quickly, which is perfect. Polka dot plants can also thrive inside terrariums, but keep in mind they can grow pretty fast, almost like weeds!

I totally agree! The texture of Fittonias is lovely, and they really do seem to create a cozy environment.
