Where can I find 12″ wood bevel siding for my house?

I just bought my first home, and I've noticed that the 12" wood bevel siding is starting to deteriorate with a lot of the boards being rotten. I'm looking to replace them but I'm struggling to find this specific size of siding. Does anyone have recommendations on where to find it? Is it possible that I might need to have it custom-made? Here's a [house pic](https://imgur.com/a/0EOCAQ8) for reference.

What type of wood are you using? A picture of the profile could help narrow down the search for you. But remember, 12" is pretty large for wood lap siding these days—they don't commonly use that size anymore. Also, how old is the house? Just making sure it's not a vinyl or masonite product instead.

I just added a pic of the house! I'm assuming it’s cedar siding since I'm seeing wood underneath the paint where it's peeling.

You might have a tough time finding that size in big box stores. I'd recommend doing a Google search specifically for siding suppliers or specialty lumber yards. It might also be worth calling some local stores directly to check their inventory. Good luck!

I completely understand! I tried searching online for hours and didn’t find much either. Contacting lumber yards directly sounds like a smart move.

You should visit a siding material supplier in your area with a piece of the siding you want to replace. Custom orders might be an option, but keep in mind that 12" is a bit tricky since wood siding isn't specified as much these days. Definitely check the age of the house too—sometimes older houses use different materials that may have been discontinued.

Thanks! The house was built in 1978, so I guess that could explain it.
