I recently purchased a manufactured home and I'm in the market for a new exterior door. The tricky part is that my rough opening measures 32x78, which is a non-standard size. I've been searching for options online, but the doors from manufactured home parts websites are really pricey; I'm looking at over $1,600 after taxes and shipping for a pre-hung door and storm door combo. Has anyone gone through this? Do I really have to just pay this much for the door, or is there a smarter way to handle this?

Most local hardware stores can special order different sizes, or you might want to look for a mobile home supply place nearby. They usually stock the doors you need, which might be more affordable than what you’ve found online.
If you're up for a project, consider removing the sheetrock above the door and changing out the header to fit a standard-sized door. I just checked, and regular doors are around $1,300 for that size. It's a bit of a hassle since that size isn't commonly made anymore for trailers, but special orders will cost you over $1,000, so this might be your best option!
Have you thought about checking out a local lumberyard or a big box store like Home Depot? They often have suppliers with more options in their catalogs. It could save you some cash!

That sounds like an interesting idea! I'm just wary of it taking longer than expected. Do you have any tips or good YouTube videos for tackling this type of job quickly?
