I'm getting ready to move out and I've noticed some scratches on the door trims. Is it a bad idea to try to patch them up with putty, or should I just go ahead and replace the frames altogether?

Honestly, as a tenant, it’s best to leave the place as you found it. But if the scratches weren’t caused by you, it sounds fair to fix them up a bit. Patching is usually better than full replacement, unless it’s super noticeable. Just be respectful of the property!
Are you talking about the trim around the doors? Usually, people don’t replace the actual door frame unless they’re swapping out the door itself. A little touch-up on the trim with putty can work well if the scratches aren’t too deep.
