Getting Started with Woodworking: Where Should I Begin?

Hey everyone! I'm new to woodworking and really excited to dive in. I didn't have much guidance growing up, and I'm not entirely sure where to start. I have a few saws but I'm not familiar with their uses, and I don't own many tools. What kind of beginner projects would you recommend? Is it best to head to Home Depot for supplies? If you were starting from scratch, what key things would you focus on learning first? Any tips and tricks you wish you knew when you began?

Starting off, I'd suggest taking on something really simple—like a coffee table! I made mine from a live edge wood slab with metal legs. All I needed was a handle plane, a random orbit sander, and a drill. This project let me dive into hand planing and really gave me a sense of what woodworking is all about. You don’t need a huge array of tools to begin; just start with something basic and see if you enjoy the process!

Totally agree! And don't forget to check out some videos on your chosen project. It's great to see how different people approach the same task.
