I've been trying to set up a Google My Business account, but it feels like a hassle, especially since my account keeps getting suspended. I'm wondering if I can get by relying on word-of-mouth, door hangers, yard signs, and platforms like Facebook and Nextdoor instead. Does having a Google My Business listing even make a difference?

From my experience, setting up a Google My Business profile can lead to tons of spam calls from Google trying to sell you ads, so be prepared for that! I had to block a huge number of numbers because it became overwhelming. But if you're wary of that, word-of-mouth referrals can work just fine, especially if you connect with neighbors through local Facebook groups.
Honestly, Google Business profiles are pretty valuable for getting referrals and showing potential customers that you’re legit. If you can troubleshoot that suspension issue, you'll be able to get your business noticed by people actively searching for your services. I think it can be helpful, but in the grand scheme, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t use it. Even I have my profile listed as permanently closed, and I still manage to get work through other methods. Sometimes simple email listings work better for finding new clients!
