Hey everyone! I'm in the market for a small DIY power station (around 1-2 kWh) that also has UPS capabilities. I'm considering a setup like the EcoFlow Delta 3 or the Anker C1000. My goal is to have a backup system that stays connected to mains power and automatically switches over during an outage. I'm planning on using a 48V 30Ah LFP battery for this project. Also, I need advice on an inverter and BMS that support automatic switchover. Any recommendations? Thanks a bunch!

For the BMS, if you're using a pre-made battery, it usually comes built-in. If you make your own from cells, you might need a separate one. For the automatic switchover, look into inverter-chargers. The EG4 6000XP or Victron Multiplus are solid options, but you can also consider more budget-friendly models from Eco-worthy or Renogy. Just keep in mind that if you're aiming for 1kW output at 48V, you might start off around $200 for the inverter alone, which can make DIY solutions pricier than all-in-one power stations.
I just put together a similar setup for my pellet stove. Here’s what I used: a Victron 30 amp charger for about $120, an 800VA inverter for $210, a 300A smart shunt at $90, and a 15A transfer switch for $60. I got two 100A LiPO batteries for $280 total and spent about $35 on wiring and connectors. It works great!
