I recently moved to a different climate zone in New Mexico and I'm still figuring out how to care for my succulents. I love having them outside, but I'm concerned about the cold nights when temperatures can drop below 40 degrees for a couple of months. I'm looking for advice on how to keep my succulents safe outdoors during winter in a zone 8b climate. I'd consider a greenhouse eventually, but that's not in the budget for this year. Any tips or experiences to share would be greatly appreciated!

I don't live in the same climate, but I live nearby in North Texas. I leave my succulents outside as long as the temp isn't going to dip below 32F for too long. If it does, I bring them inside until it warms up again. Overall, I just keep an eye on the forecast!
As long as it doesn't freeze for too long, you should be good to keep them outside. If the temps drop below freezing for a night, just cover them with blankets to keep the cold off. Make sure they're in well-draining soil to handle any rain you get!
Thanks for the tip! It usually stays above 40 degrees during the day with plenty of sunshine, but it's those cold nights I worry about. Just covering them might not be enough, but I like the idea!
