Looking for Easy Houseplants for a Friend Who’s New to Plant Care

Hey everyone! I'm totally new to houseplants and I'm on a mission to find the perfect gift for a coworker who wants to add some greenery to their home. They're really anxious about taking care of plants, so I'm looking for options that are easy to care for and have a good lifespan. Also, it's important that whatever I get is safe for cats, since they have a couple at home. I really appreciate any advice you can share!

You can't go wrong with spider plants! They're super easy to care for and completely non-toxic to cats. They'll thrive even if you forget to water them once in a while, plus they look great with those fun dangly 'babies' hanging off them! Perfect for a newbie!

And cats find them amusing too, sometimes even getting a little silly around them! ?

If your coworker has a nice sunny spot, consider hoyas! They do require a bit of care at first, like repotting into a chunkier soil mix, but once they’re settled, they pretty much thrive on neglect. They bloom beautifully when happy and only need watering every other week. Just keep in mind, every cat has quirky tastes; some may nibble on any plant, even the non-toxic ones!
