Where Can I Find a Replacement Tote for My Stanley Bailey #6 Hand Plane?

Hey everyone! I recently acquired a Stanley Bailey #6 Type 11 Hand Plane, which I believe was made between 1910 and 1918. The handle on it has been patched up but unfortunately is missing a chunk from the top. I'm wondering where I might find a good replacement tote in the US. Any suggestions?

If you have some 4/4 stock lying around, and a template, crafting your own tote could be pretty easy. That's what I’ve heard, and it sounds much simpler than I expected!

eBay is definitely your best bet if you're looking for original totes. Just keep in mind that prices and quality can vary. There are replacement totes from other vendors as well, but they might not be authentic if that matters to you.

If you're up for a little DIY, consider repairing it yourself! You could find a small piece of Rosewood from a local supplier. It’s a straightforward fix and could save you some cash instead of dropping $60 on an old one from eBay.

I hadn't thought about that! I’ll definitely look into it to save some money.

You might want to check out a guy who runs the Just Plane Fun Facebook group and YouTube channel. He sells plane parts at decent prices. eBay is also a solid option for finding original totes.
