I just bought some mustard seeds to grow for a charity sale coming up soon. Since seed compost can be pricey, I want to use only what I need. I'll be planting them in containers, like those for grapes, and plan to cut them down to the right height for buyers to harvest the 'crop'. Does anyone have tips on how deep these seeds typically root? Thanks!

Just a heads up, if the packet says they’ll be ready in about two weeks, you’ll be good. Just make sure to follow up with care for those young plants!
They'll root deeper than a typical plastic grape punnet. But for a quick harvest, don’t stress too much about root depth! Just keep them moist and well-fed and you should have some nice greens ready in a couple weeks.
You can grow them just fine with about an inch of compost! If you're planning to cut them like cress, that's more than enough.
Honestly, don’t worry about the roots for what you’re doing. It’s just for salad greens and not full-sized plants. Just keep them damp and provide some nutrients, and you’ll get lovely leaves before they get too overgrown.
