I have several generic brand windows in my house that feature these side lock mechanisms, allowing the window to open only about 2 inches for added security. Unfortunately, these locks keep breaking or falling out, possibly due to them being cheap or people using them incorrectly. Now, a few of my windows are missing the locks entirely, which is making my wife quite paranoid about security. I'm trying to figure out what these locks are called and if it's possible to get replacements. Are they universally fitting or do they come in various sizes? I can't discern any information about the make or model since they're just generic plastic white double-paned windows.

I used to work in window installation. Check the corners of the glass panes for a serial number. That should help you identify the manufacturer and model, making it easier to find the right replacement parts. If you can, order directly from the manufacturer for the best fit!
You can totally find them on Amazon! Just search for 'window opening control device' or something similar. It's pretty handy, especially since you want to keep those windows secure.

Thanks for the tip! Do you know if there’s a specific brand I should look for?
